Christian Scouting

At Troop 574, we describe ourselves as a "Christian Troop".

Boy Scouts everywhere are instructed to be reverent and devoted to their family, nation and God. In Troop 574, we consistently and intentionally look to Jesus Christ as the model for our lives. In addition to traditional BSA activities, the programs of our Troop are intended to point to God’s presence, His creation, and His desires for the conduct of our lives as spelled out in the Bible. We believe that Jesus is the source of the strength and wisdom necessary to live up to the Scout Law, and that one cannot fully “Be Prepared” to meet the challenges of this life unless they commit their lives to Jesus Christ.

We are also completely in-line with the Boy Scouts of America program. We camp, we hike and we attain rank. We learn the outdoors, first aid and other life skills. We practice leadership; we serve our community. We strive to live by the Scout Oath and Law. We work hard, we play hard and we have fun!

Troop 574 welcomes all Scout-age boys as members. Though it is our prayer that every boy become a follower of Jesus Christ, that decision is theirs alone. Boys, at these ages, are forming their own understanding and view of the world. They will often look to adults other than their parents for direction, validation and encouragement. Our Troop leaders understand this. They have committed themselves to Jesus Christ and submit themselves to be accountable to the other leaders, to the Troop Committee, and to the Troop’s chartering organization.
